b. Filling the rough opening
Put the windows or doors into the opening, and then measure the gap between the frame and the opening. If the opening meets the standard it should not be necessary to force the installation.
• Install the woodblocks:
1. Weight bearing woodblocks are placed evenly under the window frame.
2. Insulation woodblocks are placed at the two sides.
3. In order to reduce resistance to the window expanding due to heat, no insulation materials should be installed at the two ends of the T bar, corners, head, sill, or side bars. If such insulation material is needed, it should be installed at least 150mm away from the above places.
c. Adjusting vertical and horizontal levels
• Insert two wood spacers under the still beside the sill center to keep the sill straight, meantime, no extruding from the wood spacer to cause frame shape change.
• Install the sash and test the performance, meantime, inspect vertical and horizontal levels. The horizontal and vertical deviation should be no greater than 1.5mm/M.
• Check and adjust the diagonal so what the deviation is no greater than 2mm.
d. Fixing the frame and the sash
• Drill hole in the wall
1. Use the connecting spacer and fixing screws above and under the wood windows.
2. Use the special expanding tenon at the two sides to fix the vinyl window, and install the adjusting iron angles above and under the windows to fix it.
• Filling the insulation layer:
1. Check the width and the depth of the gap, check the adhesion surface condition to make sure it is dirt free, then dampen the filling surface with water.
2. Fill the gap with the foaming agent between the frame and the opening wall. The gap must be completely full. Treat both the inside and outside with waterproofing. The foaming agent is an insulating material; it is not used as fixing material although it is adhesive.
3. Pay attention to keep the drainage channel functional.
4. Installation must not be performed when the temperature is lower than plus 50˚c.
• Reinstall each part:
1. Reinstall the uninstalled sash.
2. Reinstall the uninstalled glass and the glazing stop.
3. Fully check the functional performance of windows and doors’ and the installation results.
